SPS Magazine: ENLYZE S7 Project Explorer as Open Source Software

At the beginning of October, we released our S7 Project Explorer as open-source software, along with the source code for maximum transparency. This was published by SPS Magazine, one of the leading magazines on automation, both in an online article and in the November issue of the print version.
Our Explorer allows exporting all variables from an S7 project file as CSV – completely without the installation of STEP 7. Through this variable list, data from the S7-300/400 can then be read out and subsequently reused in IoT/Industry 4.0 systems. All you need: The project file and our tool.
In the past, the entire process was very tedious: The project files are mostly still with the plant builders. From over 4 years of conversations, we know that these files are rarely released. Just extracting a variable list and sending it to the customer is not straightforward either: The SPS-specific system STEP 7 can display variables, but creating lists from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of variables is not a one-click solution.
This is now changing: Anyone with access to the project file can extract a variable list in no time using our tool. Your plant manufacturers can also now create and provide these lists without releasing the project file.
More info and how to obtain the tool can be found in our first press article on this topic.
